Salary:

SCP Scale 16 (£15.81 per hour) to 28 (£20.29) depending on experience and qualifications.

Hours:

16 to 20 hours per week (Negotiable) These must be worked on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays and are office based.

Our council and the role:

This is a clerk only position, we already have an established RFO.

Duties will include:

    • Administration:

    Managing the council's general paperwork, providing information for decision-making, updating the parish council website and Facebook page, and acting as the primary point of contact for inquiries.

    • Advisory Role:

    Providing professional advice and clear guidance to the council and its members on procedural, legal, and ethical matters to support effective governance.

    • Meeting Management:

    Preparing and distributing meeting agendas, taking and transcribing minutes, and ensuring that council decisions are implemented promptly.

    • Liaison:

    Acting as a representative of the council and liaising with relevant external bodies, such as district/unitary councils on ethical issues and councillors' registers of interest.

    • Grant applications:

    Monitoring funding options, completing applications and overseeing projects.

    • Village surveys:

      Regular walk around the village checking for any issues.

    The ideal candidate will have/be:

    • Communication:

    Excellent written and oral communication skills to prepare clear reports, draft minutes, and liaise effectively with councillors and the public.

    • Organisational Skills:

    Strong organisational and self-motivation skills to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under initiative.

    • Strategic Thinking:

    Ability to plan ahead and prepare the council to meet future legislative challenges and technological demands.

    • Integrity:

    A high level of trustworthiness and reliability, particularly given the personal liability associated with the financial responsibilities of the role.
